Natural killer T cells (NKT cells) constitute a T cell subset possessing NK cell characteristics. They represent a crucial component of the innate immune system and serve as a bridge linking innate and adaptive immunity. This unique T cell subset expresses both T cell receptors (TCR) and NK cell receptors on its surface. Upon stimulation, NKT cells secrete substantial amounts of IL-4, IFN-γ, GM-CSF, IL-13, and other cytokines and chemokines. They participate in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases, tumor immunity, and immune defense against viral, bacterial, fungal, and parasitic pathogens. NKT cells exhibit T cell MHC-restricted killing characteristics while displaying NK cell-like cytotoxic activity upon activation, capable of lysing NK cell-sensitive target cells. Their primary effector molecules include perforin, Fas ligand, and IFN-γ. This kit enables the efficient in vitro isolation of high-purity NKT cells from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). Components are clearly defined with no heterologous elements; sterile, mycoplasma-free, and low endotoxin. Suitable for mononuclear cells derived from both peripheral blood and concentrated leukocytes.
